Dr. Mohammad Al-Mansour - Visual Artist - Doctorate of Philosophy in Art Education (Sustainable Design and Development). - Advertising designer. Member of the GSFT Association, certified trainer.
Muhammad Al-Mansour is a “self-made” person from the people of Buraidah who carries the genes of the people of patience and perseverance and works to acquire knowledge and invest it in what benefits people. He struggles in the search for knowledge and learning, is passionate about everything new in his field of interest in the visual arts, and is self-made in self-development.
The stage of discovering talent
The artist Al-Mansour says that there are real people and legal people. There are many real people in my life and they have the credit for identifying the areas of light in my talent, and among them is the professor of art education, whom I respect, as he was the first to put me on the path of plastic expression when I was studying in middle school, where he was He has an interesting style in teaching me how to express general topics, and I do not forget all the credit to my professors, faculty members in the Department of Art Education at King Saud University, where I graduated for my bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and where I learned a lot from them on both the academic and artistic levels.
As for legal persons, there are many of them, including, for example, the late artist Abdul-Jabbar Al-Yahya. The plastic personality had a clear impact on building the plastic style, after I read a lot about his biography and his journey that influenced the Saudi plastic movement. He had his own clear style in plastic expression of the environment. Saudi Arabia with a visual vocabulary that combines formal simplicity and expressive eloquence.
oBeginnings with fine art
He adds that his continuous experimentation was to discover the nature of plastic materials, but his professional beginning began with his participation in the events and programs accompanying the Janadriyah Festival and some festivals and events, where he had the opportunity to present my plastic experience.
Sources of inspiration
Regarding the sources of inspiration, he said, “The artist is the memory of the nation.”... This phrase represents the most important source in my plastic works. The artist was endowed by God with the gift of contemplation and devising aesthetic values expressed in line and color. The ability to conjure aesthetic connotations already exists in nature and the environment around us, so the artist can The artist refers to it in the form of an artistic work that bears the truth in what it expresses the heritage and culture of his society. This is what I am trying to do by evoking the aesthetics of the linear and color relationships of the distinctive Najdi heritage, represented by the Najdi doors and windows that carry the fragrance of the past with all their aesthetics, as I try to express them in a plastic vision in solidarity with the creativity of Arabic calligraphy - to produce a work that carries within it a culture. A society expressed in a contemporary way.
oFacing difficulties
Difficulties exist all the time in the life of any visual artist, and the difficulties here are in his constant search for a hidden, invisible aesthetic vision, so that he can express it in what we call the term “the artist’s visual vision,” which helped me a lot in overcoming these difficulties through constant reading. Increasing knowledge is a wall. Safety for the artist. Knowledge and experimentation are two sides of the coin of the educated artist.
How do you see the art scene?
There is a contemporary Saudi plastic arts movement that has become more mature recently, as a result of state institutions’ support for it, in addition to private institutions and galleries that have directly contributed to supporting the link between the Saudi public and its acceptance of plastic works of all artistic trends and styles. As for what every artist suffers from, They differ from one artist to another according to his artistic capabilities and experience in the field, but the general problems lie in the public’s acceptance of the nature of works that have a contemporary character, which may seem strange to some.
Style and independence
Regarding his artistic style, Al-Mansour said: I believe that I worked hard to create my own plastic medium represented by formal and color treatments that made drawing the vocabulary of the Saudi cultural heritage have a character of my own, in addition to my constant keenness to develop plastic treatments that directly contribute to simplifying the form of Saudi-characterized elements. And transforming it into a visual medium that reflects the depth and originality of artistic treatments of heritage.
Accept cash
There is no doubt that objective criticism is a case of “sincere confrontation” for the artist to continue with his style of plastic treatments or he needs to repeat his attempts after studying the negative aspects that may occur in his works, noting that the plastic movement has a good number of experienced plastic critics. Specialization, in addition to the fact that many of them have professionalism, confirms the objectivity of dealing with purposeful methods of criticism.
Vision of the Royal Academy of Arts..
The state’s support for the fields of plastic arts will contribute to adding a lot of appreciation to this field, especially in the part related to our authentic Arab arts. This does not negate the support that already exists now, which has positive effects on the scene, especially in increasing the number of exhibition halls and the accompanying activities and events that enrich the visual and plastic culture of the Saudi public.
