Under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, the Fine Arts Sector, headed by Dr. Walid Qanoush, will open the fifth session of the Jewelery Art Festival, at six o’clock tomorrow evening, Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in the halls of the Gezira Center for the Arts in Zamalek.
On this occasion, Dr. Walid Qanoush said: “Man has known jewelry and its adornment since ancient times, and with the passage of time this art developed and, especially after mixing it with modern plastic arts, derived innovative, modern designs. Design emerged as an applied art and a stand-alone science concerned with the transformation of metals, precious stones and precious metals.” To antiques and pieces of art, suiting the tastes of public and private people, and their designs are inspired by creative visions and ideas. Modern design ideas relied on the harmony between metals and stones. The Arab designer was able to form a special character and imprint resulting from the environment, culture, customs and traditions, so that Western design schools tried “Benefiting from the Eastern heritage in this field and reproducing it with modern tools and attractive and innovative ideas, keeping pace with development and modernity.” Qanoush added, “Given the importance of this art, the Fine Arts Sector dedicated a festival to its creations and designs in an effort to attract jewelry designers for an interesting, aesthetic, and visually exciting dialogue that brings them together under one roof, which provides the public with a unique opportunity to see the latest designs in this field..and it is also an appropriate occasion.” It stimulates them towards innovation, creativity, renewal and development, and towards generating a greater amount of new ideas in their diversity and uniqueness and more flexibility with regard to designing patterns, elements and units of jewelry.” It is noteworthy that the facilitator of this course, Dr. Abdel-Al Mohamed Abdel-Al, and the jury was composed of Prof. Dr. Salwa Abdel Nabi (Chairman), and the membership of: Prof. Dr. Zainab Mansour, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdel Aziz, artist Najwa Mahdi, artist Nahla Qenawi, artist Reem Jabo. The exhibition continues until Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Gezira Arts Center (1 Sheikh El Marsafi Street - next to the Marriott Hotel - Zamalek). Visiting hours are daily: from nine in the morning until nine in the evening, except for Friday.
