LIVING UNITS "Many years ago, I spent three magical weeks in the Sinai desert hosted by the local Beduins. Before leaving I asked them what gift shall I send from London to thank them for their wonderful hospitality. They asked me to go to the BBC world-service Arabic, and tell them a story with... 'grass, flowers and trees'... which I did." Mariana Gordan... coming all the way from London "For some time, leaves started to gradually make their way into my paintings, and suddenly I found myself seeing people and objects as trees and plants growing from one another. In the midst of this experience, a cactus called "Christ's Thorn" or Euphorbia caught my attention. It has dense thorns and clusters of green leaves, with owers emerging from between them, each ower formed by two leaves in a constant embrace. And that's were the stories began." Said Mhanny Yaoud
