Casablanca is preparing to host the second edition of the International Academic Forum of Fine Arts, organized by the Art Wave Association, from July 1st to 5th, 2026. This cultural and artistic event aims to combine visual creativity with academic thought and an openness to Morocco's cultural heritage.
The forum is being organized to foster dialogue between artists, researchers, and creators from within Morocco and abroad. A comprehensive program will be offered, combining art workshops, intellectual seminars, cultural visits, and group exhibitions, providing participants with a fertile ground for exchanging experiences and expertise and expanding the horizons of artistic and human collaboration.
The forum's activities will begin on Wednesday, July 1st, with the arrival of participating delegations, followed by an introductory meeting designed to strengthen relationships between artists from diverse schools and creative approaches. The following day will feature drawing and sculpting workshops throughout the day, along with a stroll along the Casablanca Corniche and an evening of artistic performances combining visual expression and music.
The academic aspect occupies a central place in this year's program. On Friday, an international symposium entitled "Contemporary Art and its Intellectual Dimensions" will be held, featuring a distinguished group of academics, researchers, and artists. The symposium will address a range of issues related to the transformations of contemporary art, its relationship to society, and its role in producing knowledge and reshaping aesthetic sensibilities and cultural awareness.
The program also includes cultural visits to several of Rabat's most prominent landmarks, including the Royal Theatre, the Mohammed VI Tower, and the Kasbah of the Udayas. These visits aim to introduce the participating guests to the richness and diversity of Moroccan heritage, both architecturally and culturally, and to strengthen the connection between artistic experience and the national cultural landscape.
On Saturday, visits will be organized to the Habous district and the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, before the opening of the symposium's group exhibition. This exhibition will showcase the works of the participating artists to the public, critics, and those interested in visual arts. The event will conclude with a ceremony honoring the participants and recognizing their artistic contributions, in an atmosphere that reflects appreciation and celebration of creativity.
This gathering is expected to be a landmark event on Morocco's cultural and artistic calendar, providing a space for interaction, dialogue, and the exchange of expertise, as well as contributing to strengthening the presence of visual arts within the Arab and international cultural landscape. This event also underscores the ongoing dynamism of the Moroccan art scene and its capacity to embrace initiatives that combine academic rigor with aesthetic appeal and a humanistic dimension.
