The Fine Arts Sector Opens Applications for the Small-Scale Artworks Salon Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdel-Aziz Konsowa—Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture—the Fine Arts Sector, led by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Hamed, announces the opening of applications for the new edition of the "Small-Scale Artworks Salon (20×20)." This prestigious event returns to showcase creative endeavors that demonstrate how the greatness of art is not measured by its size. Credit for this event goes to artist Prof. Dr. Ahmed Nawwar, who conceived the idea of the Small-Scale Artworks Salon and launched its inaugural edition in 1997 at the Arts Complex. Throughout its successive editions, the Salon has continued to present diverse artistic experiences and support the presence of artists within the Egyptian fine arts scene. Today, it renews its role as a space for experimentation and visual condensation within the standardized 20×20 cm format. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ragab Saqr serves as the General Commissioner for this edition, which is held under the theme "The Twinship of Music and Form... Between Ear and Eye." This theme invites artists to explore the subtle connections between audible rhythm and visual structure, transforming melody, movement, and harmony into concentrated visual visions. Categories for participation include: Painting, Drawing, Graphic Art, Ceramics, and Sculpture. Applications are open to Egyptian artists aged 25 or older as of December 1, 2026, subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the online application form.
