"Heritage": A Visual Bridge Between the Authenticity of Heritage and the Techniques of Modernity at the Mokhtar Museum
Under the patronage of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, Dr. Mahmoud Hamed, Head of the Fine Arts Sector, inaugurated the "Heritage" exhibition by Dr. Mohamed Ali Nasra at the Nahdet Misr Hall in the Mahmoud Mokhtar Cultural Center yesterday, Thursday.
In the "Heritage" exhibition, the artist relies on deconstructing and reconstructing material elements from different time periods. We see heritage books and the Holy Quran alongside old technological media such as CDs, cassette tapes, and videos, among others. These themes of temporal juxtaposition raise profound questions about the timelessness of the idea in the face of the medium's disappearance.
According to Dr. Mahmoud Hamed's vision, the works of artist Mohamed Ali Nasra in the "Heritage" exhibition constitute a unique model of contemporary conceptual composition. The artwork transcends the visual aspect to become a miniature museum space that encapsulates human memory, heritage, and the transformations of the cognitive medium.
Dr. Hamed noted... Hamed noted the artist's use of natural wood as the primary material supporting the walls of the compositions, lending the work warmth and a sense of antiquity, authenticity, and connection to the land and roots.
The head of the Fine Arts Sector also believes that the artist, Mohamed Ali, has presented a complex visual style that not only documents the past but also re-examines it in the age of digital modernity, reminding us that identity and culture are the enduring shields for preserving the dignity and continuity of nations.
