Large turnout at the “Contemporary Egyptian Creations” exhibition at Jeddah Atelier
The “Contemporary Egyptian Creations” exhibition opened Tuesday evening at Jeddah Atelier for Arts in Saudi Arabia, with the attendance of Engineer Louay Hakim, Engineer Khaled Al-Nahdi, Dr. Nabil Al-Naqeeb, and artist Saleh Al-Turki.
The opening was attended by a host of prominent Egyptian, Saudi, and Arab visual artists, including Rabie Al-Akhras, Abdullah Idris, Omar Al-Zahrani, Fahd Khalif, Abdulrahman Maghrabi, Atef Ahmed, Mohammed Al-Shehri, Ahmed Hussein, Essam Asiri, Lamis Al-Hamawi, Qamar Al-Doubi, Abdulaziz Boubi, Hussein Daqqas, Sahar Anani, Fatima Nour El-Din, Manal Amir, Siham Mansour, Amal Jamal Al-Layl, Arwa Nawari, Basma Al-Awadhi, Farid, Naziha Tashkandi, Ibtisam Abdul Latif, and Huda Al-Khouli.
Artists Mohamed Raslan, Yara Hani, Omar Sabir, Mohamed El-Khabti, Abdulkhaliq Al-Zahrani, Wadha Al-Qahtani, Reem Rabie, and Amal Falmban were also present.
Also attending were Mohamed Mansour Al-Ajam, Meshal Al-Omari, and Nahar Marzouq.
The exhibition featured paintings by pioneering, middle, and emerging generations of Egyptian artists. It represented a tribute to iconic figures among the founding and pioneering artists, creating a fascinating dialogue between the old and the new, thus forming a cultural and social history of Egyptian art spanning more than 100 years.

Art critic Hisham Qandil, director of the Jeddah Art Atelier, emphasized that the participating artists, whose works are celebrated in the exhibition, belong to diverse cultural and social schools and trends that have deeply influenced the history of Egyptian and Arab art. He explained, “This elite group does not, of course, include all the creative talents on the Egyptian art scene, but that does not negate the fact that they represent important figures in all trends of Egyptian art.”
Saudi critic and artist Dr. Essam Asiri said: “The Jeddah Atelier has always been a vital bridge connecting Saudi, Egyptian, and Arab artistic experiences. This exhibition presents a rich panorama of Egyptian art, encompassing painting, sculpture, and engraving, and showcasing a diverse range of artistic schools and movements, from realism and expressionism to abstraction, impressionism, and surrealism. It brings together different generations of artists, from established figures with long histories to emerging voices expressing their contemporary creative questions and concerns.” He emphasized that with this exhibition, the Jeddah Atelier continues its important role as a platform for fostering Arab artistic dialogue.
