Award Ceremony for the 65th Edition of the Tala'i Competition

"Fine Arts Sector" and "Fine Arts Lovers Society" Celebrate the 65th Edition of the "Tala'i" Competition Awards
Coinciding with Egypt's celebrations of the Great October Victory anniversary, the Fine Arts Lovers Society—in collaboration with the Fine Arts Sector—organized a special ceremony to award the winners of the 65th edition of the "Tala'i" (Vanguard) competition. This event marks the latest chapter of the oldest and most prestigious youth competition in Egypt and the Arab world, which held its inaugural edition on November 30, 1960.
The Fine Arts Sector, led by Dr. Mahmoud Hamed, hosted this major artistic event, highlighting the Sector's pioneering role in fostering significant cultural activities and supporting the journey of youth creativity.
The ceremony was attended by a distinguished group of officials and prominent artistic and cultural figures, including Dr. Ahmed Nawar, Dr. Mahmoud Hamed, Dr. Ashraf Reda, art critic and 65th edition commissioner Mohamed Ibrahim Tawfik, Dr. Iman Osama (Head of the Screening and Judging Committee), Dr. Mohamed Aboul-Ghar, Dr. Alia Abdel-Hady, artist Mohamed Abla, and others.
In their remarks, participants emphasized that merely exhibiting work in this prestigious forum constitutes an award and an "artistic birth certificate" for every entrant. They praised the visual and artistic quality of the works presented in this edition, noting how they elevate Egyptian art beyond stereotypical boundaries toward broader horizons of creativity.
The 65th edition featured a first-of-its-kind initiative in the history of art competitions: offering young artists "art in exchange for art." Dr. Ahmed Nawar presented the grand prize—consisting of two of his own artworks—to young artists Ahmed Hussein Abdullah and Mina Nassif Fahmy, an initiative reflecting the commitment of established masters to supporting new generations.
Recognition was also extended to key figures in the cultural sector, institutions, private galleries, and art patrons who supported the competition through funding, sponsorship, and acquisitions—foremost among them the Ministry of Culture, civil society organizations, and art galleries that champion young artists.
The ceremony concluded by honoring members of the screening and judging committees for both the "Tala'i" (Pioneers) and "Art Criticism" (ninth edition) competitions, as well as the event's curators and organizing teams. The celebration also featured outstanding musical performances.
With this distinguished conclusion, the curtain falls on the 65th edition of the Tala'i Competition, reaffirming the Society of Fine Arts Lovers' unwavering commitment to fostering art and creativity, while promising the public new events in the near future.
