**Retrospective Exhibition Celebrates the Life and Work of Graphic Art Pioneer Said Hadaya at Gezira Art Center**
Yesterday evening, Wednesday, the Fine Arts Sector—led by Dr. Mahmoud Hamed—launched a retrospective exhibition honoring the late artist Dr. Said Hadaya (1937–2017) at the Gezira Art Center in Zamalek.
The opening ceremony was attended by a large crowd of artists, critics, and fine art enthusiasts, held under the patronage of Dr. Abdel-Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture.
Notable attendees included former Minister of Culture Dr. Emad Abu Ghazi; Dr. Anwar Mogheeth; artist Mohamed Ibrahim (Director of the Palace of Arts); artist Amir El-Leithy (Director of the Gezira Art Center); Dr. Mohamed Abu El-Ghar; artist Mohamed Abla; Dr. Ahmed Ragab Saqr; Dr. Hamdy Abu El-Maati; Dr. Salah El-Meligy; Dr. Alia Abdel-Hady; Syrian artist Firas Saeid; Mohab Abdel-Ghaffar; Nazir El-Tambouli; and others.
The significant public turnout reflected the late artist's esteemed place in the hearts of his admirers and his profound impact on the Egyptian fine art movement.
The exhibition features a rich, curated selection of the artist's works, documenting his illustrious career and highlighting his pioneering role as a leading figure in graphic art and a founder of the contemporary Egyptian printmaking movement.
The exhibition remains open to visitors at the Gezira Art Center until October 15, 2026, offering the public and researchers a renewed opportunity to explore the world and enduring artistic legacy of one of Alexandria’s most iconic figures.
